Acro II-Placement at the discretion of Instructor

Learn the basics or work on advancing your skills in this flexible Acro class! Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. Our experienced acro instructor will guide the class towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, and balance all each student's individual level of experience.

This class will teach you the fundamentals of traditional West African dance with emphasis on an understanding of the accompanying drum rhythms. Classes start with a thorough warm up, followed by a sequence of movement across the floor.
Hip Hop II- 2 years experience required

At least 2 years of hip hop dance experience needed. Based on a combination of urban street dancing and house dancing, Hip Hop is one of today’s fastest-growing dance forms. Students will learn the basic steps, terminology and various styles of Hip Hop and levels of breaking dancing, in addition to several combinations, and dances.

Traditional classical dance styles taught in fun, professional environment, students also learn the terminology and vocabulary in each genre. In Ballet, dancers learn exercises, steps, & combinations. A ballet class consists of several segments, usually: barre, center, adagio, allegro, & reverence, with French terminology. Jazz – Jazz dance includes strength, flexibility, conditioning technique, turns, kicks & leaps. Tap – Tap dancers use the metal taps on the toes and heels of their shoes to produce an endless variety of sounds and rhythms that differ in dynamics and even pitch. In tap dance class, you’ll be training your musical ear as well as your body.

Ballet is the basis of all dance forms. It is perhaps the most demanding, yet rewarding, form of dance. Not only is it beneficial to improve general physical fitness, it also encourages quick thinking and improves memory, thereby integrating mind and body into a harmonious whole being. Ballet carefully develops strength, balance, style, and the physical and mental discipline required for the proper execution of dance movements. Ballet is emphasized at our school as it is a catalyst for progress in all other dance forms. These classes will include barre exercises for warm-ups and technique development, and floor work for basic steps, turns, leaps, and combinations.

Jazz is an intensive class based on technique and style. Many styles are explored through warm-ups, isolations, stretching, footwork, progressions, turns, leaps, and combinations. This class also provides routines and exercises that build on strength, flexibility and stamina. Students learn a wide range of steps in order to learn new skills. Challenging them with more complex moves over time will allow them to master different techniques and gain a sense of achievement. All styles of Jazz are explored through warm-ups, isolations, stretching, footwork, progressions, turns, leaps, and combinations.

A clearly defined, graduated method for all ages and levels, emphasizing the development of a sense of rhythm and musicality. Speed and rhythm exercises are explored through various combinations and learning the method of eccentric rhythm counting. Advanced Tappers will also learn various styles of tap from hoofing to musical theater, opening up their knowledge base, becoming well-rounded tappers.

Modern dance techniques will include suspension and release, fall and recovery, the use of momentum and connecting breath with movement. Dancers will explore new ways of moving in combinations, floor work and partnering, and also in various methods of improvisation. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional modern dance movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolation's, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
